Unlike most experts and self-proclaimed SEO gurus, we’re not giving you advice based on what we think works. We understand SEO, and we know what you should look for in a rank tracker. In this Tiny Ranker review, we’ll go over the tool’s features and capabilities, so you can make an informed decision and see how well this SEO tool fits your existing workflows.

    About Tiny Ranker

Tiny Ranker is a rank tracking and on-page SEO tool that focuses on simplicity. It is not an all-in-one SEO tool geared towards experienced SEO professionals, but rather an easy-to-use rank tracker that bloggers, affiliates, marketers — anyone, really — can use

Tiny Ranker allows you to discern how well different pages of your site are ranking on Google and how many visitors each piece of your content attracts, quickly and with ease.

Apart from Google, Tiny Ranker does not support any other popular search engine, which is a huge drawback. That said, the tool can help facilitate other crucial SEO activities, such as keyword analysis and competitor tracking.

You can get started with Tiny Ranker for free, and you’ll have a full month to test out the tool’s features in practice before deciding whether or not to commit to a monthly subscription.

    Tiny Ranker Free Trial

From the tool’s homepage, click the “Start 30 Days Trial” button, enter your name, email address, and company name or website, and you’ll be able to start using Tiny Ranker immediately.

Once you verify your email address and activate the account, you’ll be redirected to the tool’s dashboard. What we like about Tiny Ranker’s approach to the free trial is that they tell you exactly what limitations are in place, unlike most other rank trackers.

While you will be able to try out all of the tool’s features during the 1-month free period, you will be able to track up to 50 keywords. While not a whole lot, the 50 keyword cap is more than sufficient to get a feel for the tool.

The first impression, once you log into your Tiny Ranker account, is that the tool is a bit bare bones. You’ll only see two options on your screen — one to add your site’s URL, and the other to select the language you want to check the rankings for.

As you can imagine, the tool supports a lot more customization when creating your campaigns. When you do add your website, other options will become available. The tool will guide you through the setup process one step at a time, which is great for anyone who’s just dipping their toes in SEO waters for the first time. Given that the tool wants to appeal to people with limited SEO experience, we believe that the simple, straightforward approach Tiny Ranker opted for is a great choice.

Another awesome thing about Tiny Ranker is that the company behind it is offering “personal intros” to help you learn how to use the tool effectively.

    Tiny Ranker Personal Intro

You’ll find this button in the top-right corner of your dashboard. When you click it, Tiny Ranker will display a message, presenting the two options to get in touch with the team behind it — either by providing them your phone number via email or by adding their account on Skype.

We’re unsure about waiting times, but given that you have a 1-month free trial, it’s safe to assume that the Tiny Ranker team will contact you in that time period and help you get started with their tool.

    Tiny Ranker Plans and Prices

If you happen to enjoy Tiny Ranker and find it a good fit for your company’s SEO needs, you’ll probably want to know how much the tool costs after the free trial is over.

Tiny Ranker offers four pricing plans to choose from, with the added ability to contact the company to discuss a personalized plan if you need to track more than 2,000 keywords.

    Tiny Ranker Pricing Plans

Another commendable thing about Tiny Ranker is the fact that its users have access to all of the tool’s features, regardless of what pricing plan they choose.

Even with the $19/month starter plan, you’ll receive daily ranking updates, you’ll have access to the task manager, and you’ll be able to check multiple sites and add unlimited users.

Here’s a quick overview of Tiny Ranker, before we move on to the tool’s features:

    Tiny Ranker Overview

Monthly cost From $19/month to $199/month
Number of keywords From 100 to 2,000 (you can request more keyword searches by contacting the company and figuring out a personalized plan)

    Tiny Ranker Features

Although feature-rich isn’t the first thing that would come to mind when describing Tiny Ranker, the tool does provide all of the basic features you’d expect out of a rank tracker. The simple, clean design makes the tool really easy to use, so you’ll have no problem navigating between the different options it offers.

The main features of Tiny Ranker we’ll cover here are:

    1. Search engine, location, and device support
    2. Check frequency
    3. Competitor analysis
    4. Google Analytics integration
    5. On-page SEO
    6. URLs
    7. Notes & reports

Search Engine, Location, and Device Support

While simplicity can make a rank tracker user-friendly, it should never come at the cost of fundamental features. The lack of customization options when setting up a campaign in Tiny Ranker is something that most people will hold against this tool.

The only option you can play around with when creating a new campaign is the language of the search. Tiny Ranker only tracks how your keywords perform in Google, but the lack of support for other search engines isn’t the main issue.

A much bigger concern is that the tool doesn’t allow you to choose between mobile and desktop rankings — we assume it only tracks rankings for desktop queries — and it doesn’t allow you to track the rankings for a specific geographic region.

If you’re targeting a specific market and location customization is an important feature to you, then we strongly suggest checking out one of Tiny Ranker alternatives

    Check Frequency

The story isn’t a whole lot different when it comes to check frequency. The rankings for all the keywords you add into Tiny Ranker are updated daily, meaning you can’t create specific keyword groups that you want to check less frequently — say, weekly or monthly.

The tool does offer historical rankings, allowing you to select a specific time period and see a graph that shows how a particular keyword performed in a specific week or month, which makes up for the lack of customization options regarding the check frequency.

    Competitor Analysis

Tiny Ranker’s “Competitors” feature allows you to compare your rankings with the rankings of your competitors for any given keyword.

The feature shows you nine of the highest-ranking competitors, along with their “competitor score” — shown by percentage, which reflects how many keywords among the ones you’re tracking they rank on the first page of Google for.

You can click on “Compare” from the list of competitors to see more details. Tiny Ranker will display your and your competitor’s rankings for every keyword side-by-side, alongside the URLs for the competitor’s pages that are ranking for every keyword you’re tracking.

While not a strong process for professionals, Tiny Ranker’s competitor analysis can be useful for people who are new to SEO and want to keep an eye on what their competitors are doing to get an idea on how they can improve their own content.

    Google Analytics Integration

The most commendable feature of Tiny Ranker is Google Analytics integration. If you have a Google Analytics account already set up, you can integrate it with Tiny Ranker with a single click, and you will be able to see all the relevant Analytics data inside the tool’s dashboard.

The process is as simple as navigating to the Google Analytics option in Tiny Ranker’s menu, adding your Google Analytics account, and clicking “grant access.”

This will enable the tool to extract valuable data from your Analytics account, saving you the trouble of switching back-and-forth between different tabs.

    On-Page SEO

When it comes to on-page SEO, we run into the same issue again — thanks to the creators’ desire to make the tool minimalistic and easy-to-use, they overlooked the fact that many users may not realize the tool offers on-page SEO in the first place.

This stems from the fact that there is no special icon or option in the tool’s menu that would make it apparent that Tiny Ranker provides information regarding on-page SEO. Instead, you have to navigate to “Keywords,” then click the tiny circle under the SEO tab on the list.

How to Access On-Page Seo With Tiny Ranker

Although not too big of an issue, the way you access on-page SEO inside Tiny Ranker is counter-intuitive and a bit convoluted. It would be way easier if the developers listed this feature as a separate option in the sidebar.

Once you click the red or green circle, however, the tool will provide you with all the information you need to improve the overall SEO ranking of the associated URL. It will show you a percentage-based SEO score of the page, as well as list all of the SEO issues it has, along with the actionable steps you can take to solve it.

    Actionable On-Page SEO Tips

For example, Tiny Ranker’s on-page SEO will show you issues with:

    • Keyword usage
    • Keyword density
    • Meta title and description
    • Text length
    • Missing headings

Overall, despite the weird way in which you have to access this feature, we do find Tiny Ranker’s on-page SEO quite good.

The URLs feature got us a bit confused at first until we figured out it’s essentially a task manager that lets you assign tasks on specific URLs to different team members.

This feature goes hand-in-hand with the on-page SEO. When you discover certain SEO issues with a URL, you can navigate to the “URLs” feature within Tiny Ranker, select the issue, choose a team member from the list of users, and assign the fix to them.

The tasks Tiny Ranker supports are related to:

    • Link building
    • Meta description
    • Landing pages
    • On-page
    • Text
    • Title

You can also add a small description of a task — what the problem is, what needs to be done, and when. The user you assign the task to will receive an automatic email from Tiny Ranker, so they’ll be notified as soon as you create the task and can get to work immediately.

    Notes & Reports

Notes within Tiny Ranker function exactly the same as tasks, with the exception of not assigning them to a particular user, but adding them to a keyword or an URL. Other than that, the process is exactly the same.

When it comes to reports, Tiny Ranker offers basic reporting functionality. You can create custom reports, send them via email or download them, as well as have them scheduled if you want to provide clients or team members with regular updates.

The customization options are lacking once again, with the only variable you can select being which keywords you want the report to showcase — keywords in the top ten, top 30, top 100, or the ones that aren’t ranking at all.
